BLIA Saurashtra Central Gujarat Chapter had organized “Dr.
Ambedkar Marathon 2011” at Surendranagar, Gujarat on
14th April 2011 i.e., Dr. Ambedkar’s Anniversary. Since Dr.
Ambedkar was the chief revival of Buddhism in India and gave
Equity, equality and fraternity by drafting Indian Constitution.

Our Chapter celebrates his Birthday as well as his Death Anniversary every year along with all Indian people.
On this auspicious day, 14th April 2011, we had organized a Marathon in
Surendranagar City of State Gujarat. This was the first time ever. The motto of
this event was to “Save Environment” and to spread the spirit of “We Are
One”. The Event went through the excellent success. Total 733 Students from
16 different schools had participated. 3967 Participants from open registration

city. 2000 BLIA cap was distributed to the participants. Volunteers were also
distributed BLIA caps. There were 275 volunteers appointed. Big publicity was
done through the road side hoardings. Colourful 25000 hand bills and 1000
posters were also published. Most of the recognized organization like Rotary

Mr. Naresh Kanodia, Mahesh Kanodia, Hitu Kanodia and Ms. Mona Thiba were the star sizzles of the event. The Member
of the Parliament Mr. Somabhai Patel, the Member of Legislative Assembly Mrs. Varshaben Doshi and Mr. Prakash
Varmora the President of Chamber of Commerce and one of the biggest industrialists gave their eminent presence as the
Chief Guests. Where as Mr. Prabhudad Parmar (President of Surendranagar Municipality), Mr. Bhavanbhai Tank
(President of Wadhwan Municipality), Mr. Alpesh Soni (President of Rotary Club), Mr. Bharat Jobanputra (General
Secretary of Lion’s Club) and Mr. Gordhanbhai Vaghela (President, All Vankar Samaj Bhavan, Joravarnagar), Mr. K. P.
Solanki (Ex Chairman, Social Justice Committee of District Panchayat - Surendranagar) and Dr. Mr. D. K. Vadher
(President All Vanakar Mahajan Samaj) and other guest were also invited as the Guest of Honours. 11 Bollywood (Indian
Film Stars) duplicates remained present for the function and were the centre of attraction. There were many tablos who
joined in the Marathon. Tablos like Tradition Weaving, Save Environment, Golden Gujarat and Traffic Awareness and so
on joined on the Tractor Vehicle. Many Schools entertained with their cultural act throughout the Marathon route. Several
organizations distributed water, limewater, juices and glucose water on the Marathon route. It becomes the utmost
celebration for Surendranagar. This is for the First time where such a huge participation was an evident. The raised
slogans of “We Are One” were sounding from the people.

Rewards in form of “BLIA Trophy” and Cash prize of Rs. 5000 & Rs. 2500 were given respectively to the First and Second
winners to Male and Female department. BLIA Trophy and Cash prize of Rs. 2500 was given to the Best Cultural Act, Best
Costume and Best Tablo. All the Film Stars were also felicitated with BLIA Trophy.
